April brought one genuinely interesting Copilot feature to Teams Phone, a useful multi-line upgrade for admins, several accessibility and interpretation improvements in meetings, and a big batch of new certified Teams Rooms hardware. Here’s the practical rundown.
Microsoft Teams Phone
- Copilot call delegation (Frontier). Microsoft 365 Copilot can now answer incoming Teams calls on your behalf and schedule follow-ups. It handles calls when you’re busy, gathers context on who’s calling and why, and shares that context with you so you can decide whether to pick up or let Copilot continue. It can also book follow-up appointments via Microsoft Bookings so important callers don’t fall through the cracks. Available now to Frontier users with a Copilot license. Frontier early access.
- Teams Phone user multi-line. Admins can now assign up to 10 phone numbers to a single user through the Teams admin center, a real fix for anyone covering multiple roles (think press relations and analyst relations) or sales/customer success teams that need local numbers per geography. All numbers work across desktop and Teams phone devices in one unified experience. Launched.
Teams Meetings, Webinars & Premium
- Consecutive interpretation in Interpreter agent. Teams Interpreter now supports a turn-based mode alongside the existing real-time simultaneous mode, the interpreter waits for each speaker to finish before translating, which mirrors how people actually converse in bilingual meetings and cuts down on the overlap and confusion that simultaneous translation can cause. The interpreter appears directly on the meeting stage. Rolling out.
- Accurate transcript attribution for sign language interpreters. Transcripts now correctly credit the original signing participant instead of the interpreter, and that attribution carries through to Copilot chat and meeting recaps. Small feature, meaningful fix for accessibility and equitable participation. Rolling out.
- Spoken language detection is now automatic. Teams detects each speaker’s language automatically and updates in real time as the conversation moves between speakers, no more manual language selection, and better accuracy for live captions and transcripts in multilingual meetings. Rolling out.
- Teams meeting Notes, powered by Loop. Real-time, collaborative meeting notes are now available in “Meet now” instant meetings, not just scheduled ones. Notes sync across Teams and the Loop app, so the whole team can co-author agendas, notes, and action items live. Rolling out.
- Resize the top video gallery. You can now drag to resize the video gallery relative to shared content on Windows and Mac, useful for training sessions or all-hands where seeing faces matters as much as the slide. Rolling out.
Workplace: Microsoft Places and Teams Rooms
- Ad-hoc room reservation from Teams Rooms on Android. Walk up and book a room on the spot directly from the console, preventing double-bookings during impromptu meetings. Requires a Teams Rooms Pro license. Generally available.
- Live transcription in Teams Rooms on Android. In-room participants now get real-time captions with speaker names and timestamps, controllable directly from the console (spoken language, translated language, side-by-side display). Original and translated transcripts can also show on the front-of-room display. Included with Teams Rooms Pro. Rolling out.
- Digital signage in Teams Rooms on Android. Front-of-room screens can now show curated content when the room isn’t in use, matching the Windows experience. Configured centrally via the Teams Rooms Pro Management portal, with out-of-the-box support for Appspace and XOGO. April 1, 2026.

A large hardware wave this month, mostly “Express Install” bundles aimed at fast, low-effort deployment:

- Yealink UH42 / UH44 and WH68 headsets, expanded Teams-certified headset lineup with new wired (mono/dual) and hybrid wireless models.
If you’re planning a Teams Rooms refresh, the Express Install category across Cisco, Neat, and Jabra is worth a look specifically because of the “sub-90-minute, no wall drilling” positioning, that’s a real cost and timeline difference for large, multi-site rollouts.
Teams device software updates
- Teams Rooms on Android, 1449/1.0.96.2026087210 (April 2026): adds digital signage, ad-hoc room reservation, and live transcription (all Pro-license features, detailed above). Also fixes presenter support and front-of-room view control for Teams Town Hall via direct console connection (Logitech Tap USB, Yealink CTP25, Barco Control Panel), and resolves low video quality in small video frames.
- Teams phones, 1449/1.0.94.2026047602 (Poly, Yealink, AudioCodes): fixes call queue handling in conference mode, sidecar display issues with multiple sidecar configurations, and an authentication bug causing unexpected sign-in prompts. Also updates the backend powering Copilot experiences, including call transfer summaries and in-call features.

- In development: Teams Phone call transfer improvements, a redesigned meeting toolbar, breakout rooms up to 1,000 attendees, profanity filter disabled by default for captions, AI-powered notes for in-person meetings via Facilitator (Android and Windows Teams Rooms), Entra passwordless resource accounts for Teams Rooms on Windows.
- Rolling out: multi-stream IntelliFrame and multi-camera view support for GCC-H and DoD in Teams Rooms on Windows.
Why this matters
Copilot call delegation is the headline feature, it’s an early-access Frontier feature today, but it points at where Teams Phone is headed: an AI layer that screens and triages calls instead of just routing them. Multi-line support and the Teams Rooms hardware wave are the more immediately actionable items if you’re managing a Teams estate right now.
